I needed 2 separate quotes provided for 2 different jobs, to be done at 2 separate dates. Job 1, was 3 trees trimmed, as their branches were over hanging my roof and causing issues with excessive moss growth + way too close to my power line coming to my house. Job 2, was a removal of an entire tree, and the cleanup/removal of resulting wood from said tree. I was on vacation for only 3 weeks, so I needed job 1 to be done within this time frame. Job 2 was more of a estimate �for a later time�. From start to finish, dealing with RTC was a pleasure. Communication was quick, detailed and the quality of work was outstanding. In greater detail. I used google to search for and reached out via email/text/website contact form, to the top 10 results for tree trimming companies who operated in the lower mainland. To my complete surprise, only 3 companies responded to my requests. 2 of them responded within 72 hours. A third company responded but failed to further communicate after I provided them my address for an onsite inspection for providing a quote. Both companies who responded, required an onsite inspection in order to provide a written estimate. They both went over the same general ideas. Permits/method of work/and options for removal of remaining wood products. The first to respond (thearboristsurrey.ca) was the only other company to get back to me. They were able to provide an onsite inspection within the week to provide an estimate. They arrived 1 hour earlier than the scheduled appointment with no notice given. The quality of their written estimate was lacking. For job's 1 and 2, the estimate the first company provided was only 2 lines in total to summarize a 10 minute conversation. Tree branch trimming = x dollars Tree removal = x dollars. That's it. No extra information. Yikes. RTC (Ruby Tree Care) was the second to respond. RTC was able to provide an onsite inspection within the week to provide a quote. The quality of their estimate was OUTSTANDING. RTC's estimate for both jobs was very detailed, and specifically for job 2, the removal of a tree, they broke down the entire process, in person and on the written estimate. Permission from my neighbours to trim branches overhanging my roof from trees on the neighbours property. Tree permit requirements, cost and permit announcing requirements. How to deal with removal of wood from the cutting of an entire tree, including 4 different choices at 4 vastly different prices. This detailed written estimate was much appreciated in light of the first companies questionable 2 line written estimate. Proceeding with job 1 (trimming of branches), the quality of communication from RTC from start to finish was top notch. The payment methods were flexible (interac etransfer). Communication was by text message and email. They were able to book an appointment less than 2 weeks out. They arrived on time for their appointment. I don't recall the names of the 2 employees who arrived to do the work, but they were professional and conducted their business in a courteous and considerate manner. They trimmed branches on 2 trees, that was on my neighbours side of the fence. Although I obtained prior permission from my neighbour to trim the tree branches, they still took the time to �introduce themselves� to my neighbours so there would be no surprises as they climbed their trees. The speed, quality and thoroughness of work was outstanding. There are many arborist/tree trimming services in Surrey on google search results with good reviews, but the lack of response from so many companies was shocking. I have used Ruby Tree Services before and my neighbour and I hired them again in late April of 2024. They worked on several trees on two residential properties, including two large, mature evergreens (Spruce & Deodar cedar) that required climbing and ropes. Despite a persistent rainfall that day, the crew of Brandon, Darren and Curtis did a very good job. Brandon was especially impressive as he was up in the tree for a couple of hours and he worked to cut several large branches down safely. The crew was prompt and they communicated very well with us. We were also impressed with Stanley who came a week earlier to speak with us and prepare a quote.
